Sangita Sigdyal is FairVote's Executive Vice President, Strategic Partnerships and Operations. A seasoned executive who has worked in the not-for-profit and international development fields, she brings more than 15 years of experience taking social enterprises from start-up phase to maturity and scale. Prior to FairVote, she was Director of Operations and Interim COO at the Open Government Partnership (OGP), a 75-country multilateral initiative that promotes government transparency through citizen engagement. She played a key leadership role in OGP’s dynamic growth during her 3.5-year tenure - from an initiative of 8 countries to a 75-country multilateral movement with global impact. She’s held a variety of executive positions that involved organizational strategy development and implementation, fundraising and business management - she worked at the World Bank to launch Open Contracting Partnership, a global campaign to open up and transform public contracting; served as Managing Director at the Results Educational Fund's Microcredit Summit Campaign to mainstream Microfinance; and was COO at the Association for Conflict Resolution. She has a BA from Ithaca College and a Master in Public Administration (MPA) from Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs.
Sangita has had long-standing interest in US electoral process and is excited to bring to bear her experience in citizen engagement to further FairVote’s mission of transforming US elections. She will be responsible for overall management and growth at FairVote as the organization embarks on a new strategy for broad impact.
Sangita is originally from the Himalayan country of Nepal where Mt. Everest looms large, and now calls the Washington, DC area home. She lives in Arlington, VA with her husband and two children.
