Sample house party invitation

Dear friend,

I’d like to invite you to my home for a conversation about our elections. While there is a lot to talk about related to the candidates themselves, I want to instead focus on how we vote. There is a way we can change our voting system to help us with some of our country’s problems—and it’s gaining momentum and the trust of people from all across the political spectrum. It’s called ranked choice voting. I hope you’ll consider joining me for some food, drinks, and an invigorating conversation.

What: Conversation about how we elect our representatives

When: [DATE]

Where: [ADDRESS]

Casual text example

Hey friend! I'm having some people over on [DATE] to talk about voting methods—and one in particular, called ranked choice voting, that's gaining a lot of traction and would make the voting process more fair. It'll be fun, there'll be plenty of booze and snacks, and we're actually gonna rank our beer preferences as a way to learn about it. I would love to see you here. Let me know if you can make it! I'll send an email with more details too.

Sample follow-up note after the party

Hey ___, thank you so much for coming today! It means a lot. I've been thinking about RCV for a while, and it's important to me because [INSERT REASON MOST SIGNIFICANT TO YOU].

  1. I'm frustrated by how hard it is to know if a candidate is being honest about an opponent's track record or if they're attacking based on falsehoods, and RCV provides an incentive to be honest.
  2. I hate that someone can win without even getting 50% of the vote.

If you didn’t have a chance to sign up, here is a link [CUSTOM LINK] to join me in supporting FairVote and the movement to change our electoral system. And if you’re ready to do more, please let me know. I’d love to have a teammate working with me.

Thanks again for coming. It means a lot that you took the time.

Best wishes,
