FairVote’s Khalid Pitts Departs to Become VP at Rockefeller Foundation
March 1, 2022 – After two years of helping FairVote achieve meaningful progress, Executive Vice President of Policy and Programs Khalid Pitts has joined the Rockefeller Foundation as its new Vice President of Policy and Coalitions.
Rob Richie, President and CEO of FairVote, shared the following statement thanking Khalid for his positive impact on FairVote and the electoral reform movement, and congratulating him on his new role:
“Since Khalid joined us in early 2020, FairVote is in a better place despite the challenges that have come with Covid and stresses on American democracy. With Khalid’s leadership and vision, we have finalized and begun implementation of a long-term strategic plan, nurtured and grown a strong new program team, made FairVote Action an integral part of our advocacy, and contributed to strengthening the collective capacity and cohesion of a growing movement to achieve our electoral reform vision.
“Ranked choice voting had its biggest year ever in 2021, and support for our core goals – ranked choice voting and the Fair Representation Act – continues to grow.
“As Khalid embraces the challenges and opportunities of his important new role, I’m pleased to share that he has accepted our offer to be a co-chair of FairVote’s Leadership Council that we will unveil this spring. I look forward to expanding our partnership with Khalid as he transitions into a new leadership role at the Rockefeller Foundation. This is a timely and strategic partnership as we approach FairVote’s 30th year of innovation and impact.
“Thank you, Khalid, and I look forward to our next chapter.”
