John Guttman is a research intern with the law and policy department. He is originally from Houston, Texas. As a Master of Public Affairs candidate at the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas at Austin, he studies methods for proposing, implementing, and evaluating public policy. In particular, he is committed to addressing issues of voter suppression and disenfranchisement, with an emphasis on low voter turnout in Texas. During his time as a research intern at FairVote, he hopes to assist with efforts to improve voter participation through more representative and fair voting methods such as ranked choice voting.
