Maine’s Committee for Ranked Choice voting recently released a video featuring actress and activist Jennifer Lawrence, urging voters to vote yes on Question 1, the referendum to keeping ranked choice voting for state elections.
In the video, Lawrence reminds viewers that for the past year, she has “been working with both conservatives and progressives on nonpartisan initiatives that help make government work better for all Americans.” Ranked choice voting, a nonpartisan reform, would do just that. Lawrence calls it, “a simple, fair and common sense form of voting” that Maine voters approved back in 2016.
The brief video also includes a short segment explaining how ranked choice voting works.
We’re happy to see such a high-profile endorsement ranked choice voting and we applaud the work our friends in Maine are doing to protect it. We hope the video inspires all of Maine’s registered voters to get out and vote on June 12.
