Ian Theisen is a development and communications intern at FairVote. He grew up in Clarksville, Maryland and is currently a student at the University of Maryland, College Park, working towards a Bachelor’s degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice and certificate in African-American Studies. Ian has studied the history of systemic oppression, disenfranchisement and under-representation of people of color in the electoral process and government at large. His education has allowed him to develop a passion for systemic electoral reform to better represent people of color in the electorate and increase the number of women in government.
Outside of FairVote, Ian is an avid D.C. sports fan. For the last five summers, he has volunteered for the Washington Spirit on game days as a statistician. In his spare time, Ian is a music lover and podcast aficionado.
