Chloe Karafelis

Chloe is a senior studying American Politics in the Washington Semester Program at American University. She is a New Englander at heart, but attends Santa Clara University in California where she studies political science as well as communications. Her passions for electoral politics thrive on the west coast, where she studies minority majority cities, and actively canvasses and phone banks for campaigns in her district. Upon graduating she plans to continue her advocacy work for organizations dedicated to fighting injustice. In her free time she enjoys golfing, food tourism, and watching livestreams of her three cats at home.

Claremont McKenna College Student Government Elections

Last week, students at Claremont McKenna College in California elected their 2020 Class President, Bryan Carlen. The Associated Students of Claremont Mckenna College is one of over 50 student governments that uses ranked choice voting to elect their officials. RCV on college campuses prevents the election from becoming a popularity contest, helps diversify the pool of candidates, and keeps students engaged with campus politics.
