FairVote just released its biennial Monopoly Politics Report, a project that predicts the results of US House races with high accuracy. The report shows just how uncompetitive most of our elections are, and just how little voice most voters have. However, the way in which we make these predictions comes with a revelation itself.

This morning, the Senate Rules Committee conducted a hearing entitled, “The Electoral Count Act: The Need for Reform.” The Committee focused on the 135 year old law which vaguely describes how Electoral College votes are counted after each presidential election.

The Fort Collins City Council, by a vote of 6 to 1, approved the referral of ranked choice voting (RCV) to the November 2022 ballot. As more people run for City Council and Mayor, winners are selected with as little as 25% of the vote.
