Antoinette Gingerelli

Antoinette ‘Toni’ Gingerelli is a Representation 2020 Fellow at FairVote.  She grew up in Howell, NJ and graduated from Rutgers University, New Brunswick with a B.A in Political Science, Women’s and Gender Studies, and Middle Eastern Studies.  She is a proud alumna of Douglass Residential College, the women’s residential college at Rutgers.  At Rutgers, Toni was an Eagleton Institute of Politics Undergraduate Associate; at the Institute she served as the Student Coordinator of RUVoting for the Youth Political Participation Program, encouraging students to pay attention to politics, register to vote, and turnout on Election Day.  Much of Toni’s undergraduate career was focused on policy and community development research through the Aresty Undergraduate Research Center, Lloyd C. Gardner Social Policy and Leadership Fellowship Program, and Ralph W. Voorhees Public Service Fellowship.

Toni is passionate about improving women’s representation in politics.  As the former President of the Rutgers Women’s Political Caucus, Toni promoted the importance of young women’s involvement in the political sphere.  She is also an alumna of the Emerge NJ, a program that trains Democratic women to run for office. As a Rutgers Institute for Women's Leadership Scholar, Toni designed and implemented We Will Lead, a conference introducing middle school girls from across NJ to politics, government, and social change, as well as the importance of girls supporting girls/women supporting women. Additionally, Toni served a 2 year term as the American Association of University Women (AAUW) Youth Representative to United Nations.  In coordination with AAUW and the UN Department of Public Information Toni organized an NGO led briefing entitled “Young Women’s Leadership and Voices at the UN,” which was attended by 130+ participants at the 61st Commission on the Status of Women. Toni is excited to join Representation 2020 and continue to do her part in highlighting the importance of women’s representation in the politics and government.
