Ranked Choice Voting Advocacy Organization Expands in 2020
Takoma Park; May 12, 2020 – FairVote, a nonpartisan organization that advocates for electoral reform in the United States, announces the hire of two new staff members to its DC leadership team in 2020, one promotion, and an addition to its Board of Directors:
- Khalid Pitts joins FairVote as Executive Vice President of Policy and Programs after a 20+ year career in national politics, including serving as a Principal at Democracy Partners, National Political Director at the Sierra Club, and the Director of Strategic Campaigns at the SEIU.
- Sangita Sigdyal continues to serve in key leadership position, now as Executive Vice President for Strategic Partnerships and Operations at FairVote.
- Ashley Houghton joins FairVote as Communications Director from Amnesty International USA, where she served as Tactical Campaigns Manager. She has also previously served as Managing Director at ReThink Media, a DC nonprofit media and messaging organization.
- Jennifer Nassour has joined FairVote’s Board of Directors. An attorney, she has been chair of the Massachusetts Republican Party, candidate for Boston city council, founder of Conservative Women for a Better Future, and CEO of ReflectUs.
FairVote is expanding its team to address new interest and opportunities for the ranked choice voting movement, which gives voters the opportunity to rank candidates in order of preference in the ballot box.
“American voters are hungry for ranked choice voting, and we are expanding to meet that need,” shared Rob Richie, President and CEO of FairVote. “We are excited to undergo changes, including adding to our leadership team, to bring ranked choice voting to more communities and voters nationwide.”
FairVote is a nonpartisan champion of electoral reforms that give voters greater choice, a stronger voice, and a representative democracy that works for all Americans.
