Kate Bolduan of CNN just tweeted this morning that Marco Rubio’s Communications Director, Alex Conant, told reporters that Rubio voters in Ohio should vote for John Kasich. The thinking behind this strategy presumably is that Kasich has the best chance to beat Trump in Ohio, and a vote for Rubio in the state would only serve to split the vote between the two Trump-alternatives, hurting Kasich’s chances at a victory. This is exactly the kind of strategic voting that ranked choice voting would eliminate, and is just one more example of the dire need for RCV given the Republican party’s fractured field this primary season.
Also, the call for support does not appear to be mutual.
