Thursday April the 20th, 2006. FairVote Executive Director Rob Richie's presentation on instant runoff voting (IRV) was met with enthusiastic reviews from members of the Dover Election Board and the city Charter Review Committee who convened a special joint meeting to review possible adoption of the electoral reform measure. Prior to Richie's presentation there was some skepticism about IRV but reports soon to follow appear to indicate a change of heart from several of the critics. As Richie explained to the audience of policy makers Thursday evening, "From a voters' perspective, they don't have to do that much more, they just need to write their candidates one, two, three." Richie went on to advocate that IRV is one of the most effective and simple means to promote more fair elections, both in Dover and nationwide.
